Update: Enyimba and Abia Comets players regain freedom after being kidnapped in Osun State

Enyimba FC participant, Dayo Ojo and Abia Comets footballer, Benjamin Iluyomade who were being kidnapped on Sunday March 22 at Ipele, alongside Benin–Akure road have regained their independence. 

 

The footballers have been reportedly kidnapped while on their way to Lagos after their teams went on vacation owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Enyimba FC official twitter cope with verified that their player has regained his flexibility. The club wrote

Even though it is not apparent if a ransom was paid out, it was nevertheless collected that the kidnappers minimized the ransom to N20m just after an original demand from customers of N100m. 

 

A statement launched by Enyimba FC read 

 

"Enyimba midfielder Ekundayo Ojo and Abia Comets’ Benjamin Iluyomade, who were being kidnapped on Sunday have regained their flexibility.

“The footballers were produced on Wednesday evening following mixed attempts of Enyimba Soccer Club and people of the gamers.

“It would be recalled that the footballers were being kidnapped together the Benin-Owo expressway as they journeyed to Akure next the suspension of the Nigeria Professional Soccer League amid fears about the world-wide pandemic, Covid-19.

“The gamers have considering the fact that reunited with their families.”
