Governor of Ondo Point out, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu has reacted to the assertion by the federal govt describing south-west stability outfit ‘Operation Amotekun’ as unlawful.

In a assertion signed by the Particular Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr Umar Gwandu, the federal government reported the institution of Amotekun is not backed by any known regulation in the land.

“The environment up of the paramilitary business named “Amotekun” is unlawful and operates opposite to the provisions of the Nigerian regulation.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) has established the Army, Navy and Airforce, including the Police and other numerous paramilitary organisations for the purpose of the defence of Nigeria.

“As a consequence of this, no Condition Federal government, whether or not singly or in a team has the authorized appropriate and competence to create any kind of business or company for the defence of Nigeria or any of its constituent sections.”Malami said

Reacting, Akeredolu, though speaking on ChannelsTv, mentioned the governors will reply to Malami when he comes up with the ‘relevant parts of the legislation on the subject

He reported, ”One thing is obvious, legislation are not designed in the office environment of the Legal professional General he can only interpret the laws and give positions of governing administration on matters relating to the legislation.

“When he comes out with relevant parts of the regulation on the subject, we will take into consideration it and reply adequately as the legislation stipulates.

“We have not achieved, but I can guarantee you that when we fulfill, we will adequately respond to the situation of the AGF.”
